After Confucius passed away, people went to offer sacrifices by his tomb every year. His former residence was transformed into Confucius Temple, where his clothing, hats, qin, carriages and books were displayed. Later, Liu Bang (256 BC–195 BC), emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty, passed by Qufu and offered sacrifices at the level of Tailao (which consists pig, sheep and ox) to Confucius to show respect.
